Objectives: Pre site visit can be scheduled to undertake the planning of equipment to be removed, when it can be removed this includes out of hours for reduced downtime. Effective removal planning focusing on risk mitigation and secure managed disposal.

Audit Trail: Full AUDIT trail is provided from site to Fixed Asset Disposal, which includes asset tag of equipment and full break down of each unit including asset tagging and serial number collation of each individual HDD/SDD

Your Obligations

All BUSINESS IT & Computer equipment is classed as WEEE waste and must be recycled closely following Best Available Treatment Recovery and Recycling Techniques (BATRRT) and treatment of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Guidance.

Under the Data Protection Act 2018 & General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) any business processing personal data must comply with the 8 enforceable principles of good practice. When disposing of redundant IT equipment, it is UK Legislation to ensure all personal records will be deleted. In addition, there may be other sensitive information stored such as access codes, financial details and photographs.

Certain items requiring disposal are classed as hazardous waste and must be collected, transported and treated in accordance with Control of substances hazardous to health (COSHH). Examples of these items are CRT Monitors, TFT Monitors and Lead Acid batteries, and your business will be issued with a Hazardous Waste Transfer Note detailing all Hazardous waste collected which needs to be held legally for 5 years – http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2005/894/made

Fixed Asset Disposal supply you with a Waste Transfer Note and Hazardous Waste Transfer Note for each collection made. In addition, a Certificate of Disposal is mandatory detailing the collection, transfer of your items. These documents show that you have fulfilled your duty of care when disposing of your redundant IT equipment.
